200.6 / Various Artists – 2008-2017

So here is the final release from Fwonk* – an enormous 30 track EP spanning the history of the netlabel, from the beginning to the end.

It is not just a retrospective, we point to the future with some brand new tracks from regular artists that are exclusive to this compilation.

This is dedicated to our friend and colleague Robert Quigley, who was taken from us too soon.

200.4 / Various Artists – The Spirit of ’77

40 years since the UK summer of punk, we invited our Fwonk* artists to stick a drawing pin through their nose. This album is all about the spirit of punk, rather than the genre. This is rough and ready, short and sharp, quick and nasty. These tracks are forged in the energy of the moment.

200.3 / Cardigan of Wasps – Carnivore

Cardigan of Wasps’ neurotic love affair with derangement comes to a close with the delirious industrial maelstrom that is Carnivore.

This EP features six creative remixes of the title track, passionately dissected before being thoroughly torn apart for your amusement by each member of the band.

Sakura Swarm: concept, composition, synth, bass, mix, artwork, additional nonsense
o terceiro invisível: dissonant perc
Dr. Decker: sludge, farmyard licks
April Anthrax: regurgitation

200.2 / ktfu – every day feels like suicide

ktfu dropped their usual meticulous studio practice for this second EP. This is rough and ready, raw industrial metal and rock. Originally conceived as three-track EP this grew, evolved and mutated in laboratory conditions into the muscled monster before you.

200.1 / Trium Circulorum – F252

Laden with atmosphere and drama, this album is wrung from Trium Circulorum’s Eurorack modular rack with seemingly effortless ease.

It is dark, moody and with a palpable tension. The beats are loud and large, the melodies crouched in the background, waiting for their moment to pounce.

199 / tOtALcULt – Beats From The Black Lodge

“I have no idea where this will lead us, but I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange.”

Splicing together some mountainous beats and esoteric, eerie samples from the classic show Twin Peaks, tOtALcULt returns to Fwonk*. This album needs to be played loud, and let those cavernous beats pulse through you.

This is some damn fine coffee, and hot!

198 / Viejos Hombres de Abejón – The Library of Noise

Six years since the Viejos Hombres first landed with a blizzard of distortion, they are back. This is a soundtrack for our current dystopia. It’s the rally of the drums in the revolution, it’s the rave of the apocalypse. In short, it sounds like the sky is being torn apart.

Mixing in the original album’s swirl of ambience and noise, this new EP throws in influences ranging from My Bloody Valentine through The Orb to Fuck Buttons. It is loud and brutal, yet hypnotic and mesmerising.

197 / ktfu – no death

ktfu – or kill the fucking urge if you’re not into the whole brevity thing – has been a long-standing contributor to Fwonk* compilations and a member of the community. This is his debut album, which brilliantly merges industrial music, synth pop cyber metal and more into a cohesive whole. Soundscapes fizzle and swoosh to robotic rhythms and unleashed guitars whilst above it all are first class (heavily processed) vocals and lyrics.

All songs written, performed, produced and mastered by ktfu – Soundcloud / WordPress

196 / Heskin Radiophonic – Madrigals

Acoustic and folk instruments (or at least samples of them) weave and intertwine simple melodies and harmonies, delays build, and cavernous echoes rebound.

A departure for Heskin Radiophonic after two albums of techno music this year, this is a return to ambient music, but far more melodic than previous Fwonk* releases.
