Apologies for the lack of a podcast in July – life has a way of getting in the way when you’re making plans! We’ll be back with a new podcast in August, but mop up those tears, and check out these great new releases – all released in the past week!

Dada Cat – Magick People/Born To Be Wild

Dada Cat - Magick People/Born To Be Wild

From the awesome Ringe Raja Records comes their latest two track release. Dada Cat is a breakcore/mashup artist from Odessa in the Ukraine, and these two tracks pound with fun and energy – worth checking out for the Babylon Zoo sample if nothing else!

Hola One – Timeshift

Hola One - Timeshift

Opening with a ten minute track that sounds like The Orb covering Pink Floyd’s Obscured By Clouds with a rap section, this record is a great collage of influences. The guitar is as present on tracks as the synthesizers, and as it progresses it transcends it’s influences to develop a unique sound. Excellent.

Ike Harold – Blue EP

Ike Harold - Blue EP

A 3 track EP from the prolific Sirona Records this bills itself as Future Garage/Electro/Techno/Dubstep. I don’t really know what any of that means – genre names have always left me a little befuddled – but this is a great EP, with a more spaced out electro-dub feel than a full on Skrillex dubstep thang, and a great sense of dynamics.
