193 / Various Artists – Whispers

Over twelve months, twelve Fwonk* artists were put to the test in this experimental single-track album based on the popular children’s ‘Telephone Game’.
In their chosen month, each artist used only the last few measures of the previous month’s track as a foundation for their own interpretation on the theme. The result is a metamorphosis in sound, with often only seeds of previously recognised audio being discernible. Just like the actual game, the first and final tracks could not be further apart.

181 / Cuckoo Spit: Sweet Tooth

Dreamy, saccharine vocals clash with socially acerbic lyrics in this misanthropic single written especially for the Holiday Season.

180 / Phirnis/Katarrhaktes – A Cage

Presenting two previously unreleased tracks taken from the Sleepers/Apnoea sessions, in which a musical motif is torn in two directions. Phirnis intricately builds strata upon strata of introspective swathes of sound, while Katarrhaktes takes the listener to an uncomfortable landscape of pounding, industrial horror.

173 / Phirnis/Katarrhaktes – Apnoea

In their second full-length split LP, Phirnis and Katarrhaktes collaborate to bring you the unsettling Apnoea; seven sleep-deprived tracks of industrial/ambience which slip between modes of melody, musique concrete, and extreme electronic dissonance.

159 / Phirnis/Katarrhaktes – Sleepers

Regular Fwonk* artists Phirnis and Katarrhaktes have colluded to devise this split LP. Resting somewhere between noise and ambience, Sleepers recalls the uncomfortable mode of comfort between the comatose and wakeful states. Fragments of sound play back like phantom memories, washing and repeating upon themselves as waves upon the shores of the mind.

145 / Lie Craze: GAS/GAD (feat. bumbovsky)

Berlin based electropop artist Lie Craze released her debut album ‘Never Played With The Cool Kids’ in 2009 and her last single and video ‘Oh Dare You’ almost exactly three years ago. This summer her second album is going to be put out eventually with the first single ‘GAS/GAD’ released on Fwonk*.

“GAS/GAD is a bit different from the songs I did on the first album. I usually use a lot of acoustic instruments and a melodic, unaffected vocal line. GAS/GAD is purely electronic with fragmented vocals, a fast-driven sound and a weird attitude. Maybe all my stuff is weird, but this one is extra-weird”
