Phirnis gives us his first solo release in 2 years. While many of his previous offerings were all about noise as ambient drone, this one is about noise as a process.
Presenting two previously unreleased tracks taken from the Sleepers/Apnoea sessions, in which a musical motif is torn in two directions.
In their second full-length split LP, Phirnis and Katarrhaktes collaborate to bring you the unsettling Apnoea; seven sleep-deprived tracks of industrial/ambience which slip between modes of melody, musique concrete, and extreme electronic dissonance.
Regular Fwonk* artists Phirnis and Katarrhaktes have colluded to devise this split LP. Resting somewhere between noise and ambience, Sleepers recalls the uncomfortable mode of comfort between the comatose and wakeful states. Fragments of sound play back like phantom memories, washing and repeating upon themselves as waves upon the shores of the mind.
Every milestone is just as important as the last, no mountain is too high to climb. For this, our 150th release on the label, we present to you a new compilation featuring 12 exclusive new songs and mixes from our artists.
Red Light is a full concert performance recorded at Phonophon on 14 March 2014.
This standalone new track is ripe with tension, a recording both unrelenting and oddly beautiful, like the proverbial sound of cymbals crashing.
Ho ho ho and a keg of mulled wine! Fwonk* rounds off 2013 with a candy-soaked compilation LP of icy beats and frosty ambience. Best enjoyed with a crate of dodgy liqueur and several dozen mince pies.
When at the beach on a glorious Summer’s day, the lovely lads and ladies at the fantastic Fwonk* studios promise they will never wear those sweaty speedos you most earnestly wish you hadn’t bought them for Christmas in jest.
