198 / Viejos Hombres de Abejón – The Library of Noise

Six years since the Viejos Hombres first landed with a blizzard of distortion, they are back. This is a soundtrack for our current dystopia. It’s the rally of the drums in the revolution, it’s the rave of the apocalypse. In short, it sounds like the sky is being torn apart.

Mixing in the original album’s swirl of ambience and noise, this new EP throws in influences ranging from My Bloody Valentine through The Orb to Fuck Buttons. It is loud and brutal, yet hypnotic and mesmerising.

193 / Various Artists – Whispers

Over twelve months, twelve Fwonk* artists were put to the test in this experimental single-track album based on the popular children’s ‘Telephone Game’.
In their chosen month, each artist used only the last few measures of the previous month’s track as a foundation for their own interpretation on the theme. The result is a metamorphosis in sound, with often only seeds of previously recognised audio being discernible. Just like the actual game, the first and final tracks could not be further apart.

01 Katarrhaktes – The Gathering Quiet
02 Heskin Radiophonic – xuxurla
03 Anny – Chorizo Dish
04 Bachelor Machines – Unspool
05 Vasko the Pig – And Everything Coming Down
06 echosonic – Flaming June
07 3dtorus – shuffled dirt
08 Cardigan of Wasps – Goreshit Roadkill (Sakura Swarm short ver)
09 Viejos Hombres de Abejon – murmuri
10 Transitional Landscapes – Whispers
11 radjukatarretti – flustro
12 numen arcana – redshift

104 / V/A: Fwonk* Side of the Moon

To celebrate five years of Fwonk*, and forty years of Dark Side of the Moon, our regulars got together and reproduced Pink Floyd’s classic LP.

This LP faithfully follows the original structure, but each track is warped by a different artist or group of artists. This encompasses ambient electronica, chip-tune, shoegaze, metal and idm versions of the classic originals. We even threw in some extra bonus tracks inspired by DSotM for the sheer fun of it.

All songs written and originally performed by Pink Floyd. We are making no money from the release of this EP. We do this for the sheer love of the music. If you don’t own the original Pink Floyd album, we really suggest you get a copy now, as it’s magnificent.

039 / Viejos Hombres de Abejón: Vol. 1

Viejos Hombres de Abejón are a collective of drone musicians, whose line-up on this release includes Heskin Radiophonic, Echosonic, and Vasko the Pig. Drawn from their collective experience, this release describes the experience of three liftimes lived, yet lived with an eye on the future.

Using some new fangled doohickeys to manipulate 1s and 0s, granular clouds of noise and melody invite the listener back to the bucolic times of the band’s youth. The album’s six tracks are designed equally to calm the troubled mind and to scare the sane. So, put on your slippers, pop a Werther’s Original in your mouth, relax in your wing-back chair, stoke your briar and enjoy some old-time drone.
