117 / Anomia: Glitchbait

Gross Prophet and Vasko The Pig – two of Fwonk* long standing members combine their skills on this 4 track EP.

As you might expect from two of the noisiest artists on our roster, this if full of razor sharp beats and acidic synths. The beats twist themselves in knots, the synths are huge and the distortion would make Slayer quiver in their boots. This is a crazy as fuck delight.

114 / V/A: Let Steeple Bells Be Swungen

Ho ho ho and a keg of mulled wine! Fwonk* rounds off 2013 with a candy-soaked compilation LP of icy beats and frosty ambience. Best enjoyed with a crate of dodgy liqueur and several dozen mince pies.

Concept, curation, and artwork by Katarrhaktes.

111 / V/A: The Legendary Swimsuit Issue

When at the beach on a glorious Summer’s day, the lovely lads and ladies at the fantastic Fwonk* studios promise they will never wear those sweaty speedos you most earnestly wish you hadn’t bought them for Christmas in jest. Nor will they torture you with terror-inducing spray-on tan lines or sandy crotch-paunches. Nope. Not now. Not ever. Our hands may be behind our backs, but that doesn’t mean our fingers are crossed.

Compiled, mastered and designed by Katarrhaktes.

106 / Puppet Show: Dynamo Cat Banjo

The third and final EP from the benevolent Irish techno smith Puppet Show has been magic’d to our media device screens! This time round the tracks are louder, noisier and more dance edged then e’er before. The EP is also a longer then e’er before with a whopping seven tracks. Why, that’s almost an entire album. Which certainly wouldn’t be possible without the wonderful co-production action from fellow Fwonk* artists Gross Prophet and Katarrhaktes.

Special thanks to Allyzia for proving the awesome cover art!

104 / V/A: Fwonk* Side of the Moon

To celebrate five years of Fwonk*, and forty years of Dark Side of the Moon, our regulars got together and reproduced Pink Floyd’s classic LP.

This LP faithfully follows the original structure, but each track is warped by a different artist or group of artists. This encompasses ambient electronica, chip-tune, shoegaze, metal and idm versions of the classic originals. We even threw in some extra bonus tracks inspired by DSotM for the sheer fun of it.

All songs written and originally performed by Pink Floyd. We are making no money from the release of this EP. We do this for the sheer love of the music. If you don’t own the original Pink Floyd album, we really suggest you get a copy now, as it’s magnificent.

100.1 / V/A: FWONK*100

Welcome to FWONK*100 – our hundredth release on the good ship Fwonk*! As we settle down, to read our congratulatory letter from HRH The Queen, we give – as the first salvo in a five-album salute – this massive compilation to you.

Featuring Fwonk* regulars and old-timers such as Heskin Radiophonic, Styli, Vasko The Pig, Katarrhaktes, Fudgedubnofunk, Organic Shift Man and Nemmo this also features – at long last! – the first Fwonk* recording from Norwegian progmeister and father-to-us-all Eivind Fivelsdal.

Fwonk* would especially like to thank Katarrhaktes for the going and building that amazing sculpture and making the artwork just for lil’ ol’ us.

028 / Gross Prophet: Gross Prophet EP

Gross Prophet’s third EP on Fwonk* is actually a reissue of his first – previously a CDR release. Welcome to all those who like things that go klang in the night – seven more tracks of full on, glitched out beats and melodies.

024 / Gross Prophet: Ethic

Gross Prophet returns to Fwonk* with a second EP of intense glitchery, square wave synths and pounding beats, bringing to mind the works of Aphex Twin or Kid 606. The beats stay arhythmic and the production is crisp, distorted and off kilter in all the right places.

020 / Errorhythm: 1996

Errorhythm’s first release is a culmination of the last 2 or 3 years of their live sets and bedroom noodlings. Mostly what they describe as “the more successful” of their experiments in both working on electronic music, and also of working together. Bohemian in terms of genre – but made cohesive in general feel and mood – it dabbles in dubstep, industrial and lo-fi electronica, but all clearly stamped with their unique style.

This EP is an excellent display of their versatility, both in songwriting and production. A good mix of party tracks and “listen to on the bus to make you feel better when surrounded by arseholes” tracks.

016 / Gross Prophet: Protero

The Protero EP from Gross Prophet is alive with sound – drums looping in on themselves, eating themselves and spewing out the remains. With full-on glitches, stutters, bass squelches and distorted synths, Protero is not for the faint hearted.
